The Ultimate Gift

What are you looking for this Christmas? It feels as though it is getting more difficult to find an original and personal gift for a loved one:

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. (James 1:17)

But what is the ultimate gift?

It is described in the Bible as "the gift of God¨:

Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water. (John 4:10)

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. (Romans 6:23)

Can this gift be bought, or can we earn it through good deeds?

"...Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money." (Acts 8:20)

Paul, writing to the church at Ephesus in the 1st century, says that we are saved through faith because of God's grace (God's love and mercy):

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: (Ephesians 2:8)

How did God give this gift?

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)

The ultimate gift of eternal life can only be received because God gave his son as the perfect sacrifice for the forgiveness of sins.

So if God is so willing to give this gift, do we have to do anything to receive it?

Yes! We must believe in God, read His word and keep His commandments. We have a FREE Learn to Read The Bible Effectively Course, which we hope will help you to both study and understand your Bible.

Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift (2 Corinthians 9:15)
